A landmark on Stowe's Main Street since 1833, when Peter C. Lovejoy built it as a private home. It became a hotel — first the Mansfield House, then the Brick Hotel — before settling on the Green Mountain Inn name by the 1890s. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it has hosted presidents Chester A. Arthur and Gerald Ford. Today it spans roughly 103 rooms across eight buildings, with a spa, sauna, outdoor pool, and the whip-lined Whip Bar & Grill — its halls still hung with the inn's own history.
