Woodstock's grand little public library, given to the town by Dr. Edward H. Williams in memory of his parents, Norman and Mary Williams. Built in 1883–84 of Vermont redstone and granite, with three deep-set Romanesque arches and "ANNO DOMINI" carved across the gable. I only saw it from the steps — ice cream in hand — but even the doorway felt warm and history-soaked.
