The von Trapp Family
The real Austrian family behind The Sound of Music: Captain Georg von Trapp — a decorated World War I submarine commander and widower — his second wife Maria, and their ten children (not the seven of the movie). They toured the world as the Trapp Family Singers, fled Austria after the 1938 Nazi annexation, and eventually settled on a farm in Stowe, Vermont in 1942, where their descendants still run the family lodge today.
